Back in the days, writers simply made money by publishing books and writing in news paper columns at that time, while this worked for a while it was not encouraging young and freelance writers who just wanted to write all for the fun of it.

A blog engine simply houses everything that has to do with your blog business logic such as post, images and Video and so much more.

There are so many blog engines out there to serve the main purpose of hosting your blog like WIX, Blogspot by Google and WordPress, so many expert bloggers recommend the use of Wordpress as a blog engine because it suits blogging purpose well than the others. 

Just in case you are really broke, you can start with Blogger By Google on a free domain, but i highly recommend to do a switch over as quick as possible.
